What Can Effect Your Recovery?

Things that can make it slower for you to get back to doing the things you love

How Bad Were You Before Your Op?

The severity of the pain and restriction before your surgery, has a big bearing on your recovery.  If you were in a lot of pain and relatively inactive, it can take longer for the strength in your muscles to build up after your surgery.  This will improve with the right exercise program for you.

What was Your Level of Fitness Before Your Op?

The pain of hip arthritis can be debilitating, making it almost impossible to maintain a healthy level of fitness.  If this was the case for you, it can make your recovery slower, but this will improve with the correct guidance for your fitness level.

Loss of Confidence

It is really common to feel nervous and vulnerable after such a big operation, especially if you where in a lot of pain and fairly inactive before your surgery.  The right care, tailored to you and your circumstances, can help enormously in building up not only your physical strength, but just as important, your confidence as well!

3 Vital Steps In Creating Your Tailor Made Hip Replacement Recovery Program

Our aim is to get you firmly on the right road to recovery

1) Your Story

It is important you share with us how bad things were before the operation and how you were coping.

For example, if you had a terrible limp because you where in a lot of pain, you may have had to use a stick.  In this case we may recommend some gentle hands on manual therapy to straighten you up, as limping for a long time can leave you a bit lob sided.

Perhaps you coped quite well before you operation but had some unexpected complications during or after your surgery.

All this information helps us to make your recovery program specific to you and your individual circumstances.

2) Assessment

We will take a close look at you, and assess you pain levels and range of movement.

Perhaps you were worried about some ongoing pain you are having or whether it was ever going to go away?

We will go into this in detail during your assessment.  This helps us know exactly where you are in your recovery, and where we need to start in tailoring your specific rehabilitation program.

3) Guidance and Understanding

Frustrated with your slow progress since your op? Unsure which exercises to do and how often?

Our highly qualified team will guide your through your program and adapt and evolve the rehabilitation program to suit your individual needs and goals, to get you back to doing the things you love.

What Our Clients Say About Us

"We were very impressed and relieved that you were able to diagnose the problem, within a few short minutes, as opposed to the NHS which took 9 months to do the same on a previous occasion!

You were able to explain the cause and effects of this problem in a way that was easy to understand and you demonstrated the exercises to do very clearly."

Tersia Ingels - WAKSTAR LTD

I have always found you to be a true professional with a genuine manner and I also thank you for the time you have given me personally over the years.  I have no hesitation in recommending you as a conscientious, reliable and committed individual."

Karen Brady, Vice Chairman of West Ham United F.C.

"I just wanted to write a short letter to say thank you so much for the excellent treatment that I recently received.  Though my competitive playing career is well and truly over, I still pride myself on a reasonable level of performance and of course have to demonstrate shots when coaching my pupils.  Not only did you quickly diagnose my condition, you proceeded to sort it out very quickly as well."

Grahame Glenister, PGA Professional
